Tuesday, April 22, 2014 – Earth Day – KXCR held a Day of Special Programming with 16.25 hours of programming. Of that, 8.75 hours consisted of live programming including music and interviews.  A whopping 12 live guests were featured with 11 of them coming from the local communities in our listening area.

Volunteers spent time recording  local meetings such as those of the bi-monthly City Club of Florence and the Heceta Head Coastal Conference for future broadcast. In the months leading up to the KXCR debut, volunteers created a float and took part in the 2013 Florence Rhody Days Parade. Two of our KXCR volunteers were interviewed on TV.

And many individual volunteers spent time forging relationships with leaders, ordinary citizens and community organizations for future collaborations and project activities. These include the Chamber of Commerce, the Florence Area Coordinating Council, local schools, the Siuslaw Public Library, Lane Community College among others.
